Most people around my children’s school know me or know of me, some of them know that I’m a creative type, with only a few who really know what I get up to in my few, precious moments of spare time. So when the opportunity of the school art show came up, I thought I would exhibit the pieces that I did a few years ago to show my creativity.
It’s quite a nerve wracking experience, it is like showing your soul but you know let people in and they can surprise and lovely things can happen.
I had many sales from the exhibition which made my heart jump for joy including this lovely stained-glass inspired piece using ripped paper and another exhibition is now in the pipeline.
As well as exhibiting at the art show, my lovely friend and I were in charge of decorating the hall in a rainbow of paper star garlands. It was an art installation in itself!! The end result was amazing and it was a shame to take it down when the show was all over but it wouldn’t have survived the boy’s indoor soccer!
Well until next time.
Its the first day of winter here in Queensland, the mornings have started to have a bit more of a nip to them so the other day, I found my good, old jeans from the back of the wardrobe. I do love Queensland winters, there is normally only a few days that I’m feeling quite unhappy with the weather, the rest of the time I can wear my winter warm things comfortably without feeling as though I’m going to freeze. As you may be able to tell I love the heat of Summer rather than the temperatures of winter. Living in the UK, I was always wrapped up even in the Summer months.
Anyway, getting back on track. My jeans!! I had forgotten that when I put them away at the end of last winter, holes were starting to appear in some embarrassing places. The first time I put them on, I tried to get away with the gaping holes but I did get a comment. Therefore I decided that something needed to be done but what! I didn’t just want to sew on a patch and be done with it. I needed to inject some of my style into it!
Here is the result!! Total Wardrobe Care loved the result on Instagram and I was thrilled to be asked by them to do a guest blog post on my jeans repair. To read the blog post about my inspiration for the first pair of jeans and how to make the little Suffolk puffs, check outhttp://www.totalwardrobecare.co.uk/blog/
My jeans have now been washed a few times and they have stood up to the rigours of a washing machine, I felt confident about tackling the next pair of jeans.
This pair had even more holes!!
I used teals, olives, turquoise and eau-de-nil with sparkling beads and sequins. First I repaired the hole with cotton to bring the fabric together and then for the re-enforcement, I used Suffolk puffs / yo-yos. I started using the antique gold beads but soon decided that they were going to be too big and it would make sitting down a bit uncomfortable. The colour scheme will go beautifully with a new cardigan I bought from Next when I was in the UK last Autumn.
I have finished the back tear, just under the pocket. I have added some lazy daisy embroidery stitches so now the Suffolk puffs look like flowers and the stitching looks like leaves.
Just have to keep going until all the beads and sequins are on, it’s a working progress but what do you think?!!
Until next time.
I’ve expanded my Christmas range of bunting and gift tags. Please check out my shop at http://www.etsy.com/au/shop/LilibetStanley
I hope you enjoy getting ready for the big day!! Gift wrapping is one of my favourite ways to prepare!!
Until next time.
I’ve been having fun making new lines for my Etsy shop. It’s good to get back into the swing of making things again!
Flower Cake Toppers in any colour! If you have got a colour scheme in mind, please let me know and I will be happy to help.
Bunting cake toppers in pink, apricot and gold.
Little Cottage Bunting was very cute to make and would look great in a girls bedroom or used as gift wrapping. It’s now looking for an owner. If you are interested, please take a look in my link to my Etsy shop.
Hopefully it won’t be so long before my next post.
Sorry I’ve been absent for a while due to some changes in my work life. I wanted to show you what I have been up-to recently and what I have just put on my Etsy shop. This is my latest embroidery of some cheeky chickens eating flowers in a garden.
I love the combination of colours of duck-egg blue with cream and sand. It reminds me of the various shades of eggs available. The greeny eggs come from a friend and I have blown them so I can keep them for decorative purposes.
I have used suffolk puffs with french knots and satin-stitch.
I have used a variety of fabrics including silk for my embroidery. The artwork would add a country-living feel to any house. Please visit my shop to check out the new embroidery and all my other products.
I was very excited to receive my first parcel of my printed fabric designs in the post from Spoonflower.com. I have set my designs so Spoonflower customers can buy my new range. It can be printed onto different types of fabric, wallpaper and gift wrap. You can buy my fabric designs at http://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/lilibet_velvet
Spoonflower.com is so easy to use!
You upload your design, choose your colours from their colour chart, choose your fabric and then simply wait for the designs to arrive. It does take some time to arrive from America to Australia but I loved the thrill of opening the beautiful parcel when it arrived!
I’m going to be making something out of my fabric, I will show you when it’s all finished. I can’t wait to get more of my designs printed.
Thank you Spoonflower!
Until next time,
I was very excited on Monday to receive my very first custom order on Etsy. A lovely customer wanted bunting in peaches, pinks, golds and creams. I worked with her with all the different colour combinations and finally came up with a Peach, Pale Peach and Cream combination in my triangular bunting range for her daughter’s birthday.I enjoyed packaging the order up and just hoped it would meet with her approval!
I included a new item in my shop, the horse bunting as a big thank you for being my first customer and my first custom order customer!
I enjoy making things look beautiful!
When my customer received her parcel, she said “Love them!!! Beautiful job. Colours are perfect and beautifully presented!!”. I was thrilled with her remarks! If you too want custom-made bunting, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Until next time.
